Member Requirements
There are two main types of membership in the Legion of Mary: a) Active
membership and b) Auxiliary membership. Both types of membership are connected
to a unit of the Legion of Mary called a praesidium.
Active membership
Is open to any lay Catholic:
- who faithfully practices his religion,
- who is driven to share in the Church's apostolate by membership of the Legion
- and who is prepared to fulfil the conditions of membership imposed by the
Legion.
Conditions of membership:
An active member must:
- attend a weekly meeting of the praesidium,
- perform a weekly segment of work set by the praesidium,
- recite Our Lady's Magnificat each day.
Auxiliary membership
This membership is open to priests, religious and laity.
They associate themselves with the Legion by providing a service of prayer.
This service consists in the daily recitation of prayers comprised in the
tessera.
